Frequently asked Questions

1.) Why should I buy the CDAA Benefits plan?

It is supported by the CDAA this plan has been specifically designed for CDAA members.

2.) I already have some of these insurance products, how will this benefit me?

We do not want you to cancel any insurance plans already in place. We are offering this plan as a base for your financial security or to enhance what you have. Call me to discuss current coverage to see if this plan is right for you. Make sure you have all your current plan information in front of you when you call. 

3.) Do I have to take all benefits?

You have to take the Core Benefit Options or you can choose the Disability Only Option, the rest of the benefits are optional.

4.) My employer provides dental work to my family; Do I have to take it?

Dental is an Optional benefit. You do not have to purchase dental if this is the case or if your spouse has coverage.

5.) I only want Long term disability, is that an option?

Yes, you can purchase a disability only program. I have researched and analyzed all the products available to CDAA members including other Association plans. What we are offering is what we consider to be the best for your occupation, in price and definitions.

6.) How do I get a Quote?

Click the GET A QUOTE on the left hand side, fill out the form indicating which options you want, and complete the personal information. Sandy will e-mail you a quote within 24 hours. Any missing information will delay your quote. The quote will include rates, plan description and applications.

7.) What if I need help?

In a day or so, Sandy or I will call you to discuss and explain the material we sent. We do appreciate your interest in the plan and it is expected you will return our messages and respond to emails. 

8.) Is there a difference with this program compared to an individual insurance product?

Things You need to Know

  • Members of the CDAA between the ages of 18 and 65 are eligible for benefits. 
  • Students and dental clinics are encouraged to participate.  
  • CDAA members working past age 65 can obtain members benefits. You will not be eligible for long-term disability nor critical illness.
  • Coverage is offered to all members, their spouse and dependent children under the age of 21 (or under 25 if a full-time student).
  • In order to qualify for Extended Heathcare Benefits, a Declaration of Insurability questionnaire must be completed at time of application.
  • The Plan Anniversary is June.  Any suggestions for plan changes will be taken into consideration at that time.
  • If you are considering tax deducting your premiums, consult an accountant or tax advisor.  
  • NSF cheques or Dishonored pre-authorized withdrawals are subject to a $25.00 service charge.
  • Fully completed original documents must be mailed to Bruce A. Hollett & Associates.  We will review your paperwork, notify you it has been received and forward it to the insurance company.
  • Insurance coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following receipt of your application and approval of medical information by an underwriter.
  • You will receive a monthly statement with your billing information. Please keep all statements for your income tax records. If you require duplicate copies at the end of the year, there will be a $50 fee payable in advance.
  • If you have applied for additional Long-Term Disability your coverage will be effective when the insurance company has approved your medical information.  The process may take time if additional information is required from you or your doctor.
  • Benefits terminate when the CDAA Master group insurance policy terminates, you cease to be a member of the Association, cease to pay your benefit premiums, no longer reside in Canada, fail to pay premiums or qualify for Provincial Medical or notify us in writing that you wish to cancel benefits.
  • If you cancel benefits then want to re-apply, you must wait a minimum of 2 years.
